UK Hutamaki Company Successfully Develops New Plastic Packaging

Recently, the British company Hutamaki has successfully developed a new type of plastic packaging that has both passive and active barrier functions, effectively inhibits the infiltration of oxygen, even after food bag packaging is steamed; the effect will not diminish.

This new type of plastic packaging, known as "the sum of barriers," can not only extend the shelf life of the product, but it can also be directly heated by microwave ovens. It is especially suitable for the packaging of convenience foods, and solves the problem of oxygen permeability caused by ordinary plastic cloth packaging. After a period of storage, the loss of flavor and color change occur. The packaging material is composed of six layers of different materials. The first and last layers are polyenes, the second and fourth layers are adhesive glues, and the oxygen-blocking polymer EVOH (ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer) is between them. ), it is called a passive barrier, not only can prevent the entry of foreign oxygen molecules, but also can absorb the oxygen inside the package. Oxygen scavenger maintains its activity even in the presence of moisture, thus extending the product's shelf life.
