Tips for choosing paper

1. Get in touch with the printer or the paper mill's sales representative to familiarize yourself with what kind of paper you can provide. They will provide updated material samples, flat sheet samples, and printed samples.

2. Note the information provided by the paper manufacturer. It can indicate the reproduction of the paper under different printing conditions.

3. For printed materials that must be written on it, avoid using coated paper, such as reply cards. Coated paper can easily rub off and blur the writing, especially after the paper has been applied.

4. Do not underestimate the impact of paper on print quality. Paper accounts for about 1/3 to 1/2 of the entire operating cost. The savings in paper costs will easily reduce the quality of the print.

5. Small changes in the basic weight of the paper can affect the print-through of the printed image on the other side, and the use of heavier paper can reduce print-through when printing blocks using an offset press. If you decide to use high-heavy paper, check to see if it affects mailing costs.

6. Understand all the "internal" paper that can be understood by the printing company. Printing companies often choose and store their commonly used paper. Their purchases allow them to buy at discounted prices. A company's paper is not kept constant, so it should be asked every time.

7. When you have questions about the paper or how the paper is displayed on the press, ask the printer, the paper manufacturer, or the paper supplier. Often provide printing techniques, paper samples, and applications.
