Outer coating improves PET bottle barrier

Plasmatreat, a German company, has improved plasma barrier performance in the plasma coating process and has achieved satisfactory results.

It is understood that an open plasma flame plasma system developed by Plasmatreat was used to uniformly coat high-barrier polymer coating layers on the outer surface of PET bottles. It is said that this method can reduce the cost of existing high-vacuum plasma treatment methods for inner coating.

The test results show that the application of this process can increase the barrier of CO2 permeation of PET bottles by approximately 3 times. However, this does not meet the requirements for the shelf life of products such as beer bottles. It can only be applied to the processing of carbonated beverage bottles and mineral water bottles.
