New degradable plastic

With the implementation of the international environmental standard ISO14000, new degradable plastics have attracted much attention. BASF, Germany, introduced a degradable polyester resin polymerized with aliphatic diols and aromatic dicarboxylic acids under the brand name ECOHEXD for film production.

According to reports, the demand for degradable plastics in Western Europe is 20,000 tons per year. The main application areas are compost bags, garbage bags, plastic film, composite paper, fast food packaging containers and beverage cups.
