Liquid medicine packaging plastic soft bag

Initially, intravenous (IV) solutions were packaged primarily in glass bottles. However, glass bottles have now been replaced by plastic bottles. At present, plastic soft bags based on polyolefins are the most commonly used intravenous solution packaging materials in Japan. The main reasons include the fact that plastic bags are not easy to break. Compared with the production of plastic bottles, the production of plastic soft bags can save resources.

In the newly developed intravenous solution, high-concentration, high-calorie intravenous injection solution has been widely promoted and applied. This development reduces the patient's burden because of the shorter delivery time. The main component of this solution is an amino acid that is very sensitive to oxygen. Therefore, eval film (an EVOH material developed by Kuraray) was used together with Ageless patrol and QinQ as an outer package as a high oxygen barrier layer. With the above two materials, the two-year preservation period required for amino acids containing intrinsic solutions can be achieved.

Recently, the peritoneal dialysis (CPU) liquid packaging bag has also been used eval film. The main reason for choosing this film is its excellent carbon dioxide barrier function. Therefore, the demand for eval film in this area is expected to increase.

Recently, glass bottles widely used for injection packaging have been replaced by polyolefin-based blow-molded bottles. The main reason for this change is that handling plastic bottles is much easier than handling glass bottles. However, polyolefin plastic bottles have poor oxygen barrier properties. In order to avoid affecting the quality of the injection solution and to meet the required shelf life, an outer package containing an eval film has now been applied.
