According to reports, Suphon Tubtimcharoon, the chief planning officer of IRPC, the largest integrated petrochemical company in Thailand, said on Monday that the company will invest a total of 158 million U.S. dollars in the construction of two projects next year. Of these, US$70 million was used to build the sixth ABS unit in its Rayong plant in eastern Thailand, and US$88 million was used to build a PP unit. The production capacity of this ABS unit will be 80,000 tons/year.
IRPC is currently constructing the fifth ABS unit with a capacity of 20,000 tons/year and is expected to be completed early next year, which will enable the company's total ABS capacity to reach 140,000 tons/year. The capacity of the newly-built PP plant will be 100,000 tons/year and it is expected to be completed in 2011-2012. IRPC holds 35% of shares in Thai state-owned company PTT.
