Scientists at the Russian Foundation for Building Technology Progress recently developed a non-toxic new plywood using hemp. This hemp plywood does not use phenol formaldehyde used in other plywood as a binder, thus avoiding the danger of the release of toxic substances from the adhesive. The scientists dipped the hemp in an alkali solution and added an additive. According to tests, the insulation performance of this stalk plywood is 6 times higher than that of red brick, 3 times higher than ceramic, 1 times higher than wood, and the fusion performance is several times higher than the above materials; the strength is twice as high as that of red brick.
