Electrolytic synthesis of p-aminophenol industrial development success

The "Study on the industrial development of electrolysis synthesis of p-aminophenol" undertaken by Zhejiang University of Technology has passed expert appraisal.

p-Aminophenol is an important organic chemical raw material and intermediate, widely used in medicine, dyes, rubber and lighting industries, the gap is large. The fundamental reason is that companies used the iron powder reduction method to produce in the past, which not only had high costs but also caused serious pollution and had to restrict production.

In this study, nitrobenzene was used as raw material, and one-step synthesis of p-aminophenol was performed by electrolytic reduction. It is a representative new green synthesis process. It is produced in a few foreign countries such as Germany, Japan, and India. The school is organic. In the field of chemical industry, the research on electrolytic synthesis of p-aminophenol was carried out earlier. After successful pilot tests and industrial tests, breakthroughs were made in industrial development. The company first established a 50 t/a industrial production demonstration line in China. Designed and developed a series of key technologies such as cathode-rotary partitioned electrolytic cells.
